Are you familiar with the challenges of alveolar cleft repair using the iliac crest (IC) as the bone source? While it offers favorable outcomes, the donor-site morbidity can be a drawback. We’re excited to share a groundbreaking method for alveolar cleft grafting using vomerine bone (VB). This technique not only reconstructs the alveolus but also corrects nasal septum deviation simultaneously.
Our study suggests that VB is a promising alternative to IC for patients with mild alveolar defects and septal deviations. This approach allows for combined procedures while minimizing donor-site morbidity.
